Set-up Reminders for Goal Updates

Only the Admins or those with edit permissions on a goal can set up goal update reminders. Once set up, only the owners of the goals will be notified.

You can now set up reminders to prompt the owners of the goals to update their goals on time to keep them up-to-date, thereby ensuring that everyone are kept informed of the progress and its context. This reminder cadence can help keep your team engaged with their work and increases the visibility of what is going on.

  1. Edit the goals (objectives/measures/projects/actions) from their sidebar or click Set schedule in the sidebar's Update reminder section.Set update reminder-2

  2. From the Schedule dropdown list, choose the relevant cadence to post updates. You can set up the cadence for weekly, monthly, quarterly, biannually or annually depending on when you wish to be reminded of updating your goals. For example, you can set up reminders for your team members to remind them to provide update before the monthly meeting or quarterly reporting period so that they can update the progress and also provide qualitative context.

In case of measures and actions tracked manually, you can set this under Expected Progress section of its sidebar. If Send update reminders based on the expected progress schedule check box is selected, then the owner of the measure or action will be notified to make progress updates.Expected progress-1

  3. Click Save.

Once the reminder is set up, the owner of the goal would receive both email  and in-app notifications of when the update is due. They can also see when is the next update due in the Update reminder section or the Updates tab of the goals' sidebar.

You can set the notifications in bulk while creating a custom template to post updates. See Create Custom Update Templates for Goals and Teams for details.
Note that, the notifications will not be triggered if the goal is past the end date that's set up and the status of your actions or projects is "Done", "Won't do" or "On hold".

Update post-1

In the My upcoming goals and the My upcoming work sections of the Home page, you'll see the Update reminder against those goals that you own.
Reminders in home page-2

In case you do not see "Update" against an objective, it is because you might not be the owner of it. But if you expand the objective, you'll see all its success criteria, and if you own any of it and have set a reminder, then you'll see "Update" only against that success criteria that you "own".

When is the notification triggered?

Once the reminders are set, the notifications are triggered only for the Owners of the goals, and they'll get notified both in mails and in-app Recent notifications section of your Home page) on the day of the update. Remember that the notifications will not be triggered if the goal is past the end date that's set up and the status of your actions or projects is "Done", "Won't do" or "On hold".

All the update reminder are set up in "Sydney, Australia time zone", i.e., if the reminder is set up as every Friday, then the notification will be sent out in the morning of Friday in Sydney, Australia time zone. And, if you are in US or Europe region, you'll get the notification either on Wednesday or Thursday of your time zone depending on where you're.

Click on the notification, or Update in your mail, sidebar or Home page, and you'll be directed to the Updates tab of the goal's sidebar. Click on Post an Update to make your update post and provide more context.

If there're customized templates created in your workspace for posting goal updates, you can choose to either select those templates (available in the Update dropdown) to post updates or use the "Standard" one. See Create Custom Update Templates for Goals and Teams for Goals and Teams for details.

FAQs

As an Admin, can I set reminders in bulk?

Yes, you can do it while creating a custom template to post updates from the Admin > Scheduled templates tab. See Create Custom Update Templates for Goals and Teams for details.

Who can set reminders?

Admins and anyone with edit permissions on a goal can set reminders.

Does the notification reminder get triggered only for the owners or for the collaborators too?

Only the owners of the goals will be notified.

Since we can assign “Viewers” as owners, will there be notification to collaborators in that case?

No, the notifications are triggered only for the goal owners. We recommend that you set someone with edit access as owners so that they can work and execute seamlessly on Cascade.

I'm getting notified for the goals that are achieved or exceeded.

Yes, that's the expected behavior. This is to enable you to make updates even if they keep doing well on that goal.

Do we get reminders if integrated with Calendar, Slack or Teams?

No, not at this point in time.

Is there a way to disable the notifications from my profile settings?

No, these notifications are set to keep the teams engaged and use the platform more effectively to communicate on their goals and disabling it might dissolve that purpose.
