2.8 - How Health is Represented

Previous Section: 2.7 - Assigning Owners and Time Horizons

Health in Cascade provides an indication of how an element is performing, allowing you to quickly see which areas need attention and which are doing well.

To gain a more comprehensive understanding, take a look at our Health in Cascade guide here.

Objectives/Projects: The percent progress and health is represented by an equal average of the underlying success criteria associated. The calculation also takes into consideration any nested or contributing objectives, which are considered success criteria for the parent objective. If you wish to apply any weighting, you may do so through the sidebar of the objective:

Note: If an objective only has "maintain measures" as its success criteria, there will be no progress % for the objective, only health will be shown. This is because maintain measures do not have a single target, but more so a range of values that determine health.

Actions/Measures: Health status is determined by comparing your current progress to where you should be. The way your progress is calculated depends on how you set up the tracking for the element, taking into account the start & end dates and any deadlines within.

For example, if you're not meeting the expectation, you will be Behind or At Risk. If you are meeting the expectation, you will be On Track.

  • Not Started - the element hasn’t started ‘tracking’ yet because the start date is in the future.
  • Not Tracked - tracking is not yet defined for the success criteria and there is no health to evaluate. (i.e., you have created a measure for the objective, but it does not yet have an initial or target value defined)
  • On Track (95-100%) - the element is on track to be completed by the deadline.
  • Behind (85-94%) - the element is not tracking to be completed by the deadline.
  • At Risk (0-84%) - the element is not on track to be completed by the deadline.
  • Achieved (100%) - the element is complete.
  • Exceeded (>101%) - the element surpassed the target.
